Khalid N'aeem Maxie was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Even from childhood he and his sister had dreams of the entertainment industry. As children his mother always kept a tape recorder handy as he and his sister mimicked everything from news broadcast to their favorite songs. As Khalid matured he encountered many ups and downs yet he continued to expand his artistic talents. Khalid made an effort to further develop his talents through participation in talent shows, plays, activist groups, and involvement in the music industry. It his through these activities that he truly realized the value behind entertaining the masses. Upon graduation from high school, Khalid chose to attend school out-of-state at a college in Missouri. It was in this environment that Khalid truly gained an appreciation for the diversities and similarities within the music industry. It was also during this period of discovery that he began to hunger for music that was original, fearless, broke all the rules and disregarded any reprimand. And he felt that it was his right as a consumer to have it. With this dream in mind he and Kurt Hudson set out on the business venture that has become ILL Regards Records, Inc.
